    The Model 1500 is an extremely rigid grinding system for round, non-round, standard and non-standard O.D. shapes and contours without the use of master cams.  The Model 1500 Punch Master is a production-grinding machine utilizes Pentium ™ technology with our Unison Programmable Controller (UPC).

    All axes are controlled by Yaskawa AC Digital Servo Motors and Drive Amplifiers to provide flexibility in handling the motions required for your standard and special round or non-round shapes. Our proprietary software is simple to use and eliminates the need for your operator to understand traditional NC programming languages.  Our modular programming system allows for greater control of every machine function.

    The Model 1500 is manufactured with a molded polymer cast base to dampen the vibration and torsional twist associated with the grinding process.  Pads are built into the corners of the machine’s base to provide easy access to level the machine.

    Yaskawa Servo Motors and Drive Amplifiers

    The Model 1500 is equipped with microprocessor driven AC servomotors and drive amplifiers which are manufactured by Yaskawa.  This servo package is highly reliable and coupled with faster feedback to the Computer Control, reduces overall “part to part” cycle time.  Our Yaskawa Servomotors and Drive Amplifiers are backed by a five (5) year manufacturer’s warranty from the date they were manufactured by Yaskawa.

     

    Grinding Spindle

    The grinding spindle housing is cast from metallurgically controlled iron and machined to precision tolerances.  The spindle construction consists of dual angular contact pre-loaded bearings at both ends of the spindle shaft with labyrinth seals for protection against coolant and foreign particles contamination.  The spindle housing is purged with air-oil mist lubrication for extended bearing life.

    Maximum Wheel Diameter:           18″ (457mm) – Optional 20″ (508mm)

    Minimum Wheel Diameter:            15″ (381mm)

    Spindle RPM:                                     1500 RPM (6000 RPM option)

    Spindle Motor:                                  10 HP

    Workhead

    The workhead assembly is a precision-machined tenzaloy casting with a precision hardened and ground spindle shaft.  The workhead uses precision tapered roller bearings at both ends of the workhead spindle.  The workhead faceplate design allows for a number of workholding devices to be easily adapted.  Standard adapter plates allow for pneumatically operated chucking systems to be adapted.
